Joseph Ejercito Estrada (born José Marcelo Ejército on April 19, 1937) widely known as 'Erap' is a popular film actor in the Philippines and was the 13th President of the Philippines from June 30, 1998 to January 20, 2001.
José Marcelo Ejército was born in Tondo, one of the poorest parts of Manila. He was the son of Emilio Ejército, Sr. (1898-1977), a small-scale government contractor, and the former María Marcelo (1905-present), a housewife. He is the brother of Antonio Ejercito (1932-2005) and Emilio Ejercito, Jr. (1928-1999)

Contrary to the popular notion that he grew up in life of poverty, he lived a relatively lower middle class life. After being expelled from Ateneo de Manila University for repugnant conduct, he enrolled in an engineering course at Mapua Institute of Technology, eventually dropping out to pursue acting.

Dropping out of college and involvement in a street gang so displeased his family that they forbade him from using his family name. He adopted the surname "Estrada" (Spanish for 'road') as a last name. As an actor he acquired the nickname "Erap" (from the reversed spelling of pare, Filipino slang for 'pal' or 'buddy'). He played the lead role in more than 100 movies, and was producer of over 70 films. He was the first FAMAS Hall of Fame awardee for Best Actor (1981) and also became a Hall of Fame awardee as a producer (1983). He often played heroes of the downtrodden classes, which gained him the admiration of a lot of the nation's many unschooled and impoverished citizens. This later proved advantageous to his political career.

Joseph Estrada married Luisa Pimentel (former Doctor and first lady turned senator) and had three children with her: Jinggoy Estrada (former Mayor of San Juan turned Senator/married to Precy Vitug), Jackie Estrada (married to Beaver Lopez), and Jude Estrada. Joseph Estrada met her wife Loi, while working as an orderly at the National Center for Mental Health (NMCH) in Mandaluyong City.

He also had a child from an out-of-wedlock relationship, Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito (from socialite Guia Gómez), who also made a name for himself in Philippine politics by following his father's footsteps as the current mayor of the town of San Juan, Metro Manila. Pagsanjan, Laguna Mayor Emilio Ramon Ejercito III, known in Philippine showbiz as George Estregan Jr. or E.R. Ejercito, is his nephew.

During the 2000 impeachment proceedings, reports of Estrada's numerous out-of-marriage relationships and offsprings surfaced in the press.

As an actor with no prior political experience, Estrada ran for mayor of San Juan, a municipality of Metro Manila, in 1968 and ended up losing his bid for mayor. He was only proclaimed mayor in 1969, after winning an electoral protest against Dr. Braulio Sto. Domingo.

When Corazon Aquino assumed the presidency in 1986, all officials of the local government suspected of malfeasance and anomalies were removed and replaced by appointed officers-in-charge. Estrada was then removed from his position as mayor. The following year, he ran and won a seat in the Senate under his own party, Partido ng Masang Pilipino.

Why did you enter show business? The business runs in the family. I wanted to be like my father who was admired, respected and loved. I also wanted to be part of the lives of the people

What do you consider as the turning point in your career? When I started to make a name of my own in the business. This was when I already had an identity separate from my father, when I was already referred to as Bong Revilla and no longer just the son of Ramon Revilla.

If you weren’t in showbiz, what kind of career would you have? I really am not sure. All I know is that since I was young, I had the passion to touch the lives of the people, just I am touching the lives of Filipinos as an actor, and greater, as a public servant.

What is your biggest frustration/regret? I have one regret in my life it was that I passed up on the opportunity to finish my studies. This is the reason why I am now making time to catch up on my studies by enrolling in different courses.

What do most people don’t know about you? I don’t think there are any. Having living almost my entire life under the scrutiny of the watchful public eye, I have always been an open book

What is your most unforgettable moment/experience? I have a few… The first time I became a father, the first time I appeared on screen, the first million I made on my own, the chance I got to serve my kababayans in Cavite, and the chance to serve our country as Senator.

What are you most proud of? Everything that I have done.

Cesar Montano (born Cesar Manhilot) is a Filipino actor who started in showbusiness as a stuntman for a lot of known Filipino actors. [1] and roles in a lot of B movies. He then played major roles in several action movies while also having a successful TV career as he played the lead role in the TV sitcom "Bida si Mister, Bida si Misis".

His breakout role is his portrayal of José Rizal, the Philippine National Hero in the film José Rizal. This film is unprecedented as it portrays Philippine society during Spanish colonization of the Philippines and its relevance up to the present day.

Montano has won numerous acting awards, especially in his internationally acclaimed movies, such as Hollywood's The Great Raid, Panaghoy sa Suba (The Call of the River), José Rizal, Muro Ami (Reef Hunters) and Bagong Buwan (New Moon).

Sharon Gamboa Cuneta (born January 6, 1966) is a popular Filipina actress, TV host, singer, and endorser. She is also known as The Megastar of Philippine Showbiz.

She first appeared on Philippine pop charts in 1978 as a 12 year old, singing the tune "Mr. D.J." The tune became wildly popular and earned her the title of "D.J.'s Pet." (which was also the name of her first album).[1] Other hit albums followed, and Cuneta was asked to sing many movie soundtracks of the time-becoming the first "movie soundtrack star" in the country.

At age 15, she starred in her first feature film, 1981 Dear Heart paired with fellow teeny-bopper Gabby Concepcion. After Dear Heart's success, she appeared in more than 50 feature films, and earned the title of "Box Office Queen" in the country from 1985 thru 1993.

Her early movies roles launched her as a poor little rich girl. When all else failed, producers decided to make her roles as a "rags to riches" type. Although raised in an influential rich political family, she appealed to the sosyal(socially rich) and masa(mass) crowd of Philippine society, with her intelligence, humor and down to earth personality. Her musical-variety show, T.S.C.S. "The Sharon Cuneta Show" is one of the longest running television shows in Philippine Showbiz from 1987 thru 1997.

She started her hosting abilities with other teenage prodigies with shows like GMA Supershow later called Germspesyal with German Moreno and C.U.T.E. "Call Us Two For Entertainment" with her aunt, former actress Helen Gamboa.

Her love-team pairing with Regal Films heartthrob, Gabby Concepcion made the team the most popular love team in Philippine Movies during the 1980's. They later married (at age 19) in a civil ceremony then a Chrurch wedding on September 23, 1984 with former President Ferdinand Marcos as Principal Sponsor(Ninong). Cuneta was married for a short time to actor Gabby Concepcion, with whom she was paired in Dear Heart. In April 1985, Sharon gave birth to a daughter, Ma. Kristina Cassandra or KC.

Sharon is the first Filipina artist to sell out at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium first in 1988 and her latest June 11th, 2005 concert. She sang to SRO crowds. Her poster is enshrined in The Shrine's Hall of Fame next to stars Michael Jackson, Barbara Striesand and the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico. She created a traffic jam in the 90's and puzzled the former Mayor of Los Angeles Tom Bradley. After hearing of her success, the mayor attended the concert and awarded Sharon with an Honorary Key to the City of Los Angeles.

She also had a duet in the 1990s with famous Hong Kong star Andy Lau, with whom she sang "In Your Eyes" composed by Jim Brickman.

In 1996, she hit a "Grand Slam" in Philippine Movies for the movie Madrasta where she played the role of a loving stepmother. Sharon became one of the rare actresses along with Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos to be awarded all the accolades given in local Philippine Cinema. Fernando Poe, Jr. (August 20, 1939 – December 14, 2004), formally known as Ronald Allan Kelley-Poe and colloquially known as FPJ and Da King, was a Filipino actor and later politician, having run an unsuccessful bid for President of the Philippines in the 2004 presidential elections against the popular and incumbent Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He was honored on May 24, 2006 with the title of Philippine National Artist through an executive order called Philippine Proclamation No. 1065, despite controversies surrounding his nomination.

Ronald Allan Poe was born in Manila, Philippines, of Spanish, Filipino, and Irish-American extraction, the son of actor-producer Fernando Poe, Sr. and Elizabeth Kelley. Poe Jr.'s parents were not legally married yet when he was born in 1939, which Poe, Jr.'s Filipino citizenship would much later in life be called into question as he was the illegitimate son of a non-Filipino mother, according to his political opponents who sought to disqualify him from running in a political race. Although, his parents later married in 1940. [2] He was the second of six siblings, born after Elizabeth and before Fernando (Andy), Genevieve (Jenny), Fredrick (Freddieboy), and Evangeline. His name at birth was Ronald Allan Kelley Poe; it was his brother Andy who was really named Fernando Poe, Jr.

Filipino actor Conrad Poe was his half-brother, the illegitimate son of the late Fernando Poe Sr. by actress Patricia Mijares.

The original family surname was spelled Pou from his grandfather, playwright Lorenzo Pou, a Catalan migrant from Majorca, Spain, who ventured into mining and business in the Philippines.

As his father was a famous actor, Poe had small parts in several movies of the 1940s. However, Fernando Poe, Sr. died in 1951 after rabid puppies licked his wounds. His mother, Bessie Kelley, was an American and sometimes called Elizabeth Kelley in some sources especially in Philippine press. [3][4][5] His mother's parents, Arthur Kelley (WWI Army Corp of Engineer from Iowa, USA) was an Irish American who settled in the Philippines and Martha Gatbonton, a Filipina of mixed heritage.

Poe finished primary education in 1953 at San Beda College. For high school, he went to San Sebastian College, Mapua Institute of Technology, and University of the East. After the death of his father, he dropped out of the University of the East in his sophomore year in order to work to support his family.

He married actress Susan Roces in a civil ceremony in December 1968. They were later married in a church and among their primary sponsors were then President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda Marcos. Mary Grace was their only child, an adopted one.

Although a well-known public figure, Poe had been very reclusive about his personal life. However, in February 2004, during the presidential campaign, Poe admitted to having sired a child out of wedlock. Ronian, or Ron Allan, was Poe's son by former actress Anna Marin. It was revealed that he also sired a daughter through former model Rowena Moran, Lovi who is now making a name for herself in the Philippine showbiz scene as a singer and actress.

Abdul Aziz (locally known in the Philippines as Robin Padilla) is a Filipino action star who rose to stardom during the mid 1990s with films like Anak ni Baby Ama, Bad Boy (1990), Grease Gun Gang and other gangster flicks.

He had been convicted in the mid 1990s of illegal possession of firearms and spent time in jail. He was released in 1998. A self-confessed former addict, he converted to Islam while in jail. A controversy arose recently when Padilla's bodyguard alias "Kumander Kosovo" was tagged by the Philippine authorities as an Abu Sayyaf leader. Kosovo died in a firefight with special forces during the attempted escape of Abu Sayyaf leaders from the heavily fortified prison facility, Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

He is also the younger brother of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition housemate Rustom Padilla.

He had been linked with biggest Philippine actresses such as Sharon Cuneta, Vina Morales, and Regine Velasquez.

After being convicted and released from prison and converted to Islam, the movies that he had been making changed a lot. Before he was convicted, he appeared in gangster like action films, now he only appears in romantic films. His first film after his release was Kailangan ko'y Ikaw with Regine Velasquez that made a big hit for both of them. After that hit, he also made a movie with Sharon Cuneta, Pops Fernandez (Videoke King), Tanya Garcia (Sanib), Judy Ann Santos(Jeannie, Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang), and Regine Velasquez (Till I Met You).

He has also been helping Muslim children with their education. He even donated his own house to be the school for unfortunate Muslim children who have no money to go to school.

His family, wife Krisel and children, have been staying in Australia for good. Robin goes there on a monthly basis to visit his family.
